Biography:
Rick Miller has been a faculty member in the MFT program since 1999. Prior to teaching at BYU, he was a professor in the MFT program at Kansas State University for 11 years. He primarily does clinical work with couples, and his research focuses on couple therapy, especially the role that therapists play in successful therapy. His wife is also an MFT, and they have nine children, four biological and five adopted. They have five grandchildren.

Ph.D in Sociology and MFT from the University of Southern California
M.S. in Family Sociology from Brigham Young University
B.S. in Asian Studies from Brigham Young University

Couple therapy process research, therapist effects, and families in China
